What you will learn in this episode:

  • The inspiration I had to start my podcast

  • How Only Girl On The Jobsite Podcast has evolved

  • Where Only Girl On The Jobsite Podcast is going

Today’s episode marks an incredible milestone for me! This is the second anniversary of Only Girl on The Jobsite podcast.

So in honor of my second anniversary, I wanted to share with you why I started my podcast, the inspiration and ‘ah ha’ moments I had that I knew it was meant to be, and how I came up with the name, Only Girl On The Jobsite.

So many people get held back by what they think it takes to start a podcast. However, it doesn’t have to be all that complicated. In today’s episode, I share what I use to record it, where I record it, and how easy it can actually be!

If I can start a podcast – so can you!! I knew absolutely nothing about podcasts and didn’t even listen to many before I started mine.

I started this podcast knowing that I wanted to share the knowledge I had after decades of managing projects with homeowners so that they could tackle their projects and be successful.

After the podcast got started, I started talking to homeowners, and all the conversations and emails we were getting were great. But amazingly enough, designers started showing up pretty quickly. And I thought, well, that’s weird. Maybe they’re just checking out what the competition is doing. But then they started emailing me questions and topic suggestions. And I thought, wait a minute, what is going on here? My goal was to help homeowners. But then I realized not all designers have the years of experience I do in running renovation projects. And therefore, are lacking the confidence, skills, or experience to do this for their clients and that’s what they were seeking. And you know I will do anything to support the designer industry and elevate it as a profession.

So about a year ago, I dug in and pivoted to interior designers. But if you’re a homeowner listening, I can promise you that there is so much information that I provide in these episodes that can be applied to all of your jobs. I also hope you are seeing the value an interior designer brings, and you may be inclined to hire one to help manage your projects after listening.

This podcast, these episodes, are entirely to help you understand this crazy business, build your knowledge and skill sets, and give you some tips and tricks that have worked for me in the past so that the profession is seen as one that can manage renovation projects with ease, grace, and success.

This evolution of this podcast also brought me to create my course, Renovation Management for Interior Designers, as well as the opportunity to connect with so many other amazing women and designers all over the world.

And lastly, be sure to stay tuned because in the next few weeks I have some exciting things coming that you will want to hear about! I can’t thank you enough for listening to Only Girl On The Jobsite for two whole years!
