Add-on’s, renovations, and new construction homes can seem intimidating to take on. How do you even get started? How do you find and manage contractors? What surprises should you anticipate coming up? How long do these things take?
In this podcast, you will learn all that and so much more!

What you will learn from this episode:
Three questions you need to ask before starting any renovation project
How to ask these questions to your clients to get the best end results
The importance of being honest when answering these types of questions
This is a question I get asked often by both interior designers and homeowners. In this episode, I am detailing exactly what steps you need to take before your project gets off the ground. You might be surprised with the direction I go in.
When first speaking with a new client, usually on the phone, we generally start with a broad overview of what they are looking for. Then when we meet in person, we don’t immediately discuss details like marble countertops, paint colors, or appliances. Those things come later on down the road.
One of the first questions I ask a client is: How will this room function?
You may be thinking, that’s an easy question. My kitchen will function like any other kitchen, a place for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. But there’s more to a kitchen than just somewhere to prepare meals.
As a homeowner, it’s important to really determine what your family will be doing in whatever room you are working on.
As an interior designer, it is your job to tease this kind of information out of clients to give them the most successful project in the end. Knowing your clients’ habits and preferences will make a big difference when all is said and done.
Listen to the rest of this episode to learn the other two questions I feel are important to know the answers to at the start of your renovation project.
