Add-on’s, renovations, and new construction homes can seem intimidating to take on. How do you even get started? How do you find and manage contractors? What surprises should you anticipate coming up? How long do these things take?

How to Build Confidence to Manage a Renovation Project

Featured on the Show:

What you will learn from this episode:

  • Why it is important to be confident even if you’re not feeling it

  • How to exude confidence when you’re the only female on the project

  • Ways to get and feel confident before starting a renovation project

In this episode, I wanted to talk about something I feel is crucial to the success of managing any renovation project, and that is CONFIDENCE.

You may be thinking, why is she making such a big deal about confidence? Shouldn’t it be more about skills, knowledge, and experience?

Sure, those are all important things to have on any job, but I’ve been getting a lot of messages from you all asking how to feel more confident or how to project more confidence when you’re not feeling it.

So, why does projecting confidence matter?

It establishes that you are there for a reason, receiving and sharing information as an equal team member, which is critical on any project.

You can’t solve a problem that you don’t know exists.

And that’s where confidence comes in. If you are just standing on the sidelines receiving information, it is less likely others working on the project will draw you into their conversations. If you are projecting confidence, it’s more likely that you will be included in the things relevant to your job.

I want you to think about that as you walk onto a jobsite or into a meeting for the first, fifth, or even tenth time.

How do you derive confidence so you don’t have to fake it till you make it?

Well, a lot of it comes from experience, and as we’ve discussed before, experience takes time. I know many people don’t have the luxury of time to be able to gain experience before being put in the position of managing other people’s projects.

Or as a homeowner, this may be your first project and you might not feel that confidence yet, but there are ways to overcome that.

Whether you are a new interior designer or a homeowner working on your first project, this episode will teach you a few easy ways to start feeling and exuding the confidence you need before even stepping foot onto a jobsite.
