Add-on’s, renovations, and new construction homes can seem intimidating to take on. How do you even get started? How do you find and manage contractors? What surprises should you anticipate coming up? How long do these things take?

In this podcast, you will learn all that and so much more!

Buying a House ‘As Is’ – What Does That Mean and How Do You Protect Yourself

What you will learn from this episode:

  • Buying a house during the housing boom

  • What to be aware of when buying it ‘as’ is’

  • All projects are doable, but what works for you and your family?

This is a topic that just keeps popping up….and that is the housing boom that’s going on right now.

What I see happening is an unusual pressure to look at a house as soon as possible, put in a bid that night, and BOOM! You’ve bought a house!

Which means you’ve bought a house that you might have seen once.

Maybe you were feeling pressure while looking at it. Maybe it was at night after you got off work, maybe it was quicker than you had thought because you didn’t know how much time to invest in this process, I’ve been hearing lots of different stories.

I’m also hearing about the pressure to put in cash offers in order to get ahead of the other ten offers that the buyer is getting.

Then there has also been pressure to forego any inspections.

I have clients currently going through each of these experiences, so I wanted to dig into how they got to where they are, what they’re experiencing now, and whether there are any regrets, or everything is working out just fine.

Whatever situation you might relate to most after listening, remember, it is all doable, just some easier than others!

Before you purchase a home, you do need to know your threshold for pain and tolerance of a renovation project if you’re even remotely considering purchasing a house “as is” where you have to wave inspections and really go in blind to a new home.

You also need to consider the budget, and what your familiy’s needs are.

All of these little pieces come into play when you’re making a decision about a home you haven’t seen much of.

But, keep buying houses! Just go into it with your eyes wide open, your lists in place, and your research was done before you make that enormous leap of faith and put a bid in on a  house that you don’t really know everything about.
