Add-on’s, renovations, and new construction homes can seem intimidating to take on. How do you even get started? How do you find and manage contractors? What surprises should you anticipate coming up? How long do these things take?
In this podcast, you will learn all that and so much more!
What you will learn in this episode:
How AI may impact the interior design industry
How to utilize what we know to our advantage
Why simply ignoring the advances of technology is not the answer
I think AI is really important to tackle. There is just so much out there, both positive and negative, about what this is and how it’s impacting every aspect of our lives. From students using it to write term papers to people mimicking voices and copywriters worrying that their jobs are at stake, and our industry is no exception.
The bottom line is fear holds us back, and that is based on insecurities and a lack of confidence about the unknown. And AI sure does qualify as an unknown.
So this week I took a look at what our industry specifically is saying about AI and the interior design world.
I remember when microwaves first came out. They were the size of a small car, and most of my friends had to keep them in the garages because there was no space in the kitchen! I remember the moms telling us to stand back, and some wanted us out of the room. No one could imagine then what a microwave would turn into today. So that is the perspective I want you to take about AI and, frankly, any technology.
Think back to the panic when the internet hit, and the fear designers had about it. It brought on Pinterest and all of these visual platforms that appeared to erode our value.
Right now, we are in the infancy stages of AI, and it is the best time to start educating yourself on it so that you can lean into its strengths and avoid any pitfalls that you think will happen to your own businesses.
This WILL impact our business, just as all of the other technological advances in the past have as well. We need to know how to utilize its strengths and protect ourselves from the liabilities it may bring.
Some aspects of our business may be at risk as far as E-Design, but that does not mean it will go away. What it does mean is you need to understand them. Simply ignoring that these programs exist and not knowing their capabilities will only hurt your business because those programs will only get better over time.
So in today’s episode, I break down these programs that are out there, what you can expect in the future, and how we can take what we know now and use it to our advantage and also prepare our businesses to thrive despite these platforms.
Now’s the time to try out these programs, when they are in their infancy and mostly free! Try them out and let me know what you come up with!
