Today we dive into how to get your home ready for the holidays which are upon us as we speak and then additionally work through living with a construction site over the holidays.
Unfortunately, that is where a lot of us are ending up this year because of all of the supply chain issues, labor force issues, and everything to do with the fall out of the pandemic.
Jill has primarily helped people who have moved from a major city to the suburbs. She lives in a suburb of Connecticut near New York City and was dealing with a lot of families moving to the suburbs because they outgrew city space and wanted more space. That had been going on many years prior to Covid. Covid then drove this mass exodus, as we call it, nationwide for people to move and particularly move out of big cities. New York City was especially hard hit during Covid, so Jill’s area became a booming place!
What was interesting and sort of timely is she had changed her business model a few years before Covid. Whether it was from New York City to Connecticut, or L.A. to Boise, Idaho, the challenges of moving to the suburbs were the same.
Jill decided she could help people on a much bigger scale. So she developed a digital service that did just that, so no matter where you live she can help you!
She then launched her podcast, Welcome Home To The Suburbs, which was the impetus for me starting this podcast!! True story!!
We have the holidays looming and Jill and I were laughing because I have two pumpkins – and that’s two more pumpkins than Jill has at her house! And here we are staring down these major holidays and most people aren’t ready!
Jill shares some amazing tips on decorating your mantle, your table, and even your front porch. These are new, fresh ideas that will get you out of the traditional box and get your creative juices flowing!
We also give you some outside of the box ideas to do if you’re living in a home where there is a construction site. So many people will be dealing with this during these times, and Jill’s ideas can turn your home fun and festive and she encourages you to make the most of it, no matter your situation!
This was such a fun conversation! Grab your pen and paper and be ready to take some notes!
