Add-on’s, renovations, and new construction homes can seem intimidating to take on. How do you even get started? How do you find and manage contractors? What surprises should you anticipate coming up? How long do these things take?

In this podcast, you will learn all that and so much more!

The Value Interior Designers Bring to Your Renovation Project

Featured on the Show:

What you will learn from this episode:

  • The value an interior designer can bring to your renovation project

  • The first thing I tell interior designers to do in sharing their value

  • The benefits my clients experience in hiring an interior designer

Value is such an important topic and I want to talk about how much value an interior designer can bring to your home renovation projects!

I feel that I am in the service industry, and therefore the definition of value gets a little muddy as far as how to define it from person to person and job to job. It’s much easier to understand value when you’re talking dollars and cents.

For homeowners I think it’s gotten very hard to understand the value of my industry – the value of an interior designer. Because the world of access to vendors and resources that interior designers use on a daily basis has been blurred. So I often hear, “Well Renee, I can go out and buy a sofa on my own.” Of course, the answer is yes, just like you can make a pasta dish on your own at home versus going out to an Italian restaurant and paying a premium for the pasta dish. But I assure you if you hire a designer what you get in value for that one purchase will far exceed what you can do on your own.

Your work, the time that you have to invest in a product, is significantly lessened by hiring a professional. Because you are hiring someone that can go from point A to point B in a very straight short line, as opposed to a curvy line that you’re going to have to take on your own to cover all the bases and research in order to make sure you’re getting what you want.

I have had clients in the end say, “I really had no idea how great this would be having you along on the team!” And they don’t mean it in a negative way, they just really did not understand how much time, expertise, knowledge, I would bring to their renovation projects. There was always an expectation of gaining value, they just didn’t realize how much they would actually get in the end.

That is really the goal of everything.

In today’s episode, I’m sharing some examples of the value hiring an interior designer can bring to their clients.

We need to get better at expressing how we as interior designers can help. All the various angles really come together to bring an enormous value to any project that really has nothing to do with dollars and cents but still is critical to most people.
