Renovation Management for Interior Designers – Expanding your business with a lucrative service

What you will learn in this episode:

  • The value of an interior designer with construction knowledge

  • The ability of an interior designer to build and understand budgets

  • How an interior designer brings their vision to projects

I am often asked, “Why would an interior designer be needed or be of added value to a renovation project?”

Today I want to cover four components of the value an interior designer brings to EVERY project!

First, an interior designer has inside construction knowledge. Whether an interior designer is new to this or has decades of experience, we bring a level of experience that a traditional homeowner and client does not.

You may have a client that has done renovation projects before, so she has some knowledge, but she is also playing the role of the client.  It IS a different role.

How? As interior designers, we aren’t financially and emotionally invested in these projects. We can step back and see what is truly important for the project, money and emotions aside.

Another level of knowledge that a designer brings to the project is the ability to build and understand budgets. And this is critical.

Budgets are the end-all-be-all breaking point of any project! A project starts with a budget, a project keeps a budget throughout, and a project ends with a budget. This is a component that an interior designer can bring years of experience and knowledge to!

An interior designer also brings their vision to projects.

You may have a contractor on your project, but a contractor and designer together can have an even more impactful solution  A contractor will come at it from a nuts and bolts solution, and a designer will come at it from a visionary, creative solution. Merging those together makes an amazing solution to almost any problem!

An interior designer will uplevel EVERY renovation project! Building a team with different perspectives is a winning strategy in any scenario.

Lastly, the thing that an interior designer will bring to your renovation project is the ability to help a client save time and money.

No, an interior designer isn’t free, but what an interior designer does bring with their expertise is the ability to avoid mistakes. That ability alone can help save clients thousands, even tens of thousands of dollars!

Homeowners, after listening to today’s episode, I hope you hear the value of interior designers. There really is an incredible value they will bring, and you should consider adding a designer to your team! There will be no downside, only an upside. Designers, if this makes sense, but you need more knowledge and more skills to have the confidence to lead these conversations and market yourself as this value add that you want to be, my signature course, Renovation Management for Interior Designers, will give you that confidence!
